What they don't tell you is, that this food is more risky. Food
born illness seems to go hand in hand with organic food. It is because
of the fertilizer that is used to feed the plants. How the plants are
handled and so forth.
Are
they really better for you?
Not really. I mean a strawberry is a
strawberry. Unless they are using genetics to change the make up of a
strawberry, it is no different. But, that is part of the thing that
they are against.
There are a lot of foods that are marketed or placed with organic
foods. For example free range chickens are in this category. Are they
any better? Yes they are. Free range chickens are better because they
are allowed to run around. Most chickens never really see the light of
day. On the other hand, these chickens are allowed to roam where ever
they want to. This produces an almost game like taste in the meat. The
meat is more tough also. Anytime an animal has the chance to use its
muscles, it will be more tough.
I do find that eggs from free range chickens taste better. Their
yolks taste more rich. Maybe that is all in my head, I don't know. I
also don't like the idea of caging animals and the only time they get
to see the light of day is when they are trucked out to get killed. I
love eating meat, but I also like having respect for the animal. That
might sound a bit weird, but that is how I see things. Just because we
are going to eat it, doesn't mean that we have to treat it like shit.
If you go to your local health food store you can find all kinds
of meats that have been grown on small farms. I would suggest that you
get to know the farmers at your local farmers market. Usually they
won't have meat for sale, but chances are they know farmers who raise
animals. They will be able to help guide you in the right direction. I
really do suggest that you try a free range chicken. It might cost a
little bit more, but I do think they taste better. If you have the
extra money, it is well worth it.
I actually think genetically altered food is better for you.
Before
you drop your hat, just listen to what I have to say. I think it is
better because these plants are given tools that mother nature hasn't
given them. They are designed to be able to fight off diseases that
they wouldn't be able to fight. This means that most of them won't die
from disease. This means that they will cost less. If there is more of
a product, the cost will go down.
They are better for you. They have things added to them that
nature didn't add. Things that your body like. Like vitamins and
minerals. They are more cold resistant. We always see how in certain
parts of the country the weather kills off certain percentages of
crops. This means lower prices for you. Since the farmers have bigger
yields, they don't have to charge more money to cover losses.
Do these cause cancer? Doesn't everything these days cause
cancer. That is what it seems like. I don't know if they do or not.
Who is to say that organic fruits and veggies don't cause cancer?
Unless they can link a certain chemical that is used in the fields, it
is almost impossible to know. Geneticlly altered crops are able to
yield more food per acre than crops that aren't. This means that we
are able to produce more food in less space. This really is the answer
to the worlds hunger problems. If we can grow more food in less space,
we have more food to feed people.
As always, talk to your doctor. He
will give you the advice you need if you aren't sure. That is the best
thing that you can do. Though, he will probably tell you the same
things that I just told you. |
